Isaiah Kaiser
Founder & CEO

Isaiah is the Founder and CEO of Aeris Biosciences, leading the company’s vision, strategy, and growth. He previously managed testing and engineering teams at LTA Research and has since secured millions in funding, including awards from the National Science Foundation and Ohio Department of Development. Active in Ohio’s innovation ecosystem, Isaiah holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Akron. When he unplugs, he enjoys hiking, working out, watching Cleveland sports, and time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Hasan Hedayati
Head of Research & Development

Hasan leads R&D, driving the development of our Aer™ biomaterial platform at the intersection of materials science and translational medicine. He brings industry experience spanning startups and large corporations, including Danaher, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Texas at Austin. Hasan specializes in biomaterials, surface science, and advanced imaging. When he is not leading R&D, he enjoys spending time in nature, swimming, and being with his family.

Sean McKibben
Head of Clinical Partnerships

Sean drives clinical partnership development, spanning health economics to reimbursement initiatives. He is a senior healthcare executive with 16 years of experience as a hospital President and a strong track record in the health tech startup ecosystem. His leadership has helped secure nearly $20M in funding, achieve multiple FDA clearances, and obtain a new CMS reimbursement code. Away from work, Sean stays active athletically, loves to travel, and spends time with his family, and as a testament to his eternal optimism, he’s a proud Cleveland sports fan.

Kelly Kucharczyk
Head of Regulatory and Quality

Kelly steers regulatory and quality at Aeris, bringing 17 years of Medtech commercialization experience across implants, wound care, and women’s health. She specializes in FDA strategies that align submissions with commercial goals, positioning dozens of clients for acquisition and navigating inspections from the FDA and global Notified Bodies. Formerly a leader at Stryker and NAMSA, Kelly holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Western Michigan University. Outside of navigating FDA, she can be found outdoors with her family or gardening, experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen, or curled up in front of a fire playing games or reading books.

Aidan Leahy
Head of Strategic Partnerships

Aidan heads strategic partnership development, bringing a decade of startup and corporate engagement experience to Aeris. Previously, he led innovation portfolios for several Fortune 100 companies, helping his corporate clients identify prospective startup partners and design, launch, and scale proof-of-concepts. When he’s not forging partnerships, he enjoys hiking, playing volleyball and music, spending time with family, and exploring his new home of Cleveland, OH.

Jessica Nulsen
Microbiologist

Jessica champions microbiology at Aeris, examining how biomaterials interact with human cells and microorganisms to advance critical questions in human health. Her research background spans fungal, viral, bacterial, and mammalian systems, with a focus on host–microbe interactions in gastrointestinal diseases. She holds a BS from Penn State University and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University. When she is not at the bench, she enjoys weightlifting, reading, and her two cats.

Boeun Hwang
Biomaterial Scientist
Bo develops biomaterials to enhance cell-material interactions and therapeutic effects of our biomaterial platforms. Her research background spans a wide range of topics, including materials science, cellular biology, and regenerative medicine. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Outside of research, she enjoys spending time running, exploring nature, and hanging out with her family and her cat Cleo.
Motasim Sharief
Research Associate

Motasim advances process development and applied research, motivated by the belief that great science and thoughtful engineering can meaningfully improve human health. He brings half a decade of hands-on experience in medical devices and product development, and holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Cleveland State. When he is not solving processing challenges, he can be found exploring new destinations and tracking down the best local food wherever he lands.

Moni Ghosh
Research Fellow

Moni supports the development of the next generation of biomaterials at Aeris, where he has been a team member since the founding. He brings significant experience across polymer circularity, filtration technologies, and fluid management, applying a deep understanding of advanced porous polymer systems to solve challenges in soft and hard tissue. He is currently completing his PhD in Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron. When he’s not in the lab, you’ll find him on the soccer field or cheering on his favorite team.

Aldaly Pineda
Research Fellow

Aldaly focuses on engineering the Aeris biomaterial platform through chemical modifications, enabling improved material and therapeutic functionality. By leveraging polymer chemistry and biomaterials engineering, he supports the advancement of technologies designed for tissue repair and medical device applications. Aldaly is in his final year of his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Away from the bench, you’ll find him traveling, watching soccer, or keeping up with the latest advances in biomedical innovation.

Rick Freer
Business Operations

Focusing on strategy, commercialization, partnerships, business development, and strategic initiatives, Rick connects innovation with opportunity. As a management consultant, Rick has worked in fields as varied as manufacturing, healthcare, therapeutics, real estate development, construction, polymers, and advanced materials. He has also built several businesses from the ground up. Serving as a business mentor for entrepreneurs and start-up entities, he also volunteers with several regional nonprofit organizations and their boards.
